Narrative:
Passenger noticed smell of something burning over the wing area. Immediately went to cockpit to advise of situation. Already being handled by #1 flight attendant and cockpit. Landed 18 mins later with no event. No speculations on what caused the smell. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: flight attendant reporter stated that the crew was shuttled off to another aircraft and resumed the flight to lax. Maintenance did not contact them with any findings. The reporter quoted the captain as mentioning the APU in his speculations, but she was not certain that the APU was the problem.

Title: AN LAX BOUND B757-200 CREW DEALS WITH A 'SMELL OF SOMETHING BURNING' AS RPTED BY A PAX SITTING OVER THE WING AND DIVERTS TO DEN, CO.
Narrative: PAX NOTICED SMELL OF SOMETHING BURNING OVER THE WING AREA. IMMEDIATELY WENT TO COCKPIT TO ADVISE OF SIT. ALREADY BEING HANDLED BY #1 FLT ATTENDANT AND COCKPIT. LANDED 18 MINS LATER WITH NO EVENT. NO SPECULATIONS ON WHAT CAUSED THE SMELL. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: FLT ATTENDANT RPTR STATED THAT THE CREW WAS SHUTTLED OFF TO ANOTHER ACFT AND RESUMED THE FLT TO LAX. MAINT DID NOT CONTACT THEM WITH ANY FINDINGS. THE RPTR QUOTED THE CAPT AS MENTIONING THE APU IN HIS SPECULATIONS, BUT SHE WAS NOT CERTAIN THAT THE APU WAS THE PROB.
