Narrative:
Departed norfolk international airport on an attempt to photograph a tall ship entering chesapeake bay. Was able to find the ship in the haze east of the chesapeake bay bridge tunnel. While approaching the ship to begin photographing, at the last moment I noticed a united states military submarine immediately ahead. Between concentrating my attention on the sailing ship, the haze and the low profile of the submarine on the water, I didn't see the submarine until nearly next to it. My assumption, flying over a stretch of open water clear of other people or objects, did not hold in this case. Flying low, you may be surprised of what it is possible to encounter.

Title: ON PHOTOGRAPHY APCH TO TALL SHIPS ENTERING CHESAPEAKE BAY, C310 PLT ENCOUNTERS, UP TO THEN, NOT VISIBLE SUBMARINE.
Narrative: DEPARTED NORFOLK INTL ARPT ON AN ATTEMPT TO PHOTOGRAPH A TALL SHIP ENTERING CHESAPEAKE BAY. WAS ABLE TO FIND THE SHIP IN THE HAZE E OF THE CHESAPEAKE BAY BRIDGE TUNNEL. WHILE APCHING THE SHIP TO BEGIN PHOTOGRAPHING, AT THE LAST MOMENT I NOTICED A UNITED STATES MIL SUBMARINE IMMEDIATELY AHEAD. BTWN CONCENTRATING MY ATTN ON THE SAILING SHIP, THE HAZE AND THE LOW PROFILE OF THE SUBMARINE ON THE WATER, I DIDN'T SEE THE SUBMARINE UNTIL NEARLY NEXT TO IT. MY ASSUMPTION, FLYING OVER A STRETCH OF OPEN WATER CLR OF OTHER PEOPLE OR OBJECTS, DID NOT HOLD IN THIS CASE. FLYING LOW, YOU MAY BE SURPRISED OF WHAT IT IS POSSIBLE TO ENCOUNTER.
