Narrative:
On may/xa/01 I was presented with a log page from an overnight work package. Action taken for PIREP stated r-hand static port heater had been replaced and pitot static leak check accomplished. The rii signature block was not signed and the aircraft had departed. I contacted mechanic and he confirmed that he had accomplished the rii back check, but forgot to sign off before leaving work. I circled rii and printed his name and employee number on the sheet. I then notified XXX maintenance, gave them the log page and item number and asked them to circle the rii and print employee number and name on the page. At XA00 on jun/xh/01 during a conversation with a company rep I was informed that because the crew chief had already signed the aircraft release before I printed the signature in the rii block I was required to write my name and employee number next to the entry.
