Narrative:
I was assigned to ferry a maintenance flight. I was on a conference call with line maintenance and dispatch. They all indicated that the aircraft was safe and legal to ferry. I looked at the damage and the temporary repair with the maintenance supervisor. He assured me that it was safe, correct and legal. We received a copy of the permit (I still have a copy). We flew the flight without incident. Upon arrival at ZZZ, the maintenance man who met the aircraft looked at the damage and repair and said that the deferral was not legal. I will attempt to discuss this with company. I flew the flight because I was told that the aircraft was safe and legal to fly, and that the deferral was legal. This report is submitted because of the mechanic's statement upon our arrival in ZZZ.
