Narrative:
Near keatn intersection inbound to cle, ATC was questioning commuter aircraft about their altitude. About that time we got a TCASII alert -- sound of controller voice and immediate heading given to us of 360 degrees from a 310 degree heading caused me to react quickly. I executed a 45 degree bank turn but lost 300 ft while turning. If I were to make a steep bank turn in the future, I will turn off my flight director.
