Narrative:
Bos approach on 124.4 had control of us. Directly over bed, we were told to maintain 3000 ft. Directly over bed we thought we were cleared for the visual runway 29 and left 3000 ft. Approach contacted us and asked us what altitude we were at, which was 2500 ft.

Narrative: BOS APCH ON 124.4 HAD CTL OF US. DIRECTLY OVER BED, WE WERE TOLD TO MAINTAIN 3000 FT. DIRECTLY OVER BED WE THOUGHT WE WERE CLRED FOR THE VISUAL RWY 29 AND LEFT 3000 FT. APCH CONTACTED US AND ASKED US WHAT ALT WE WERE AT, WHICH WAS 2500 FT.
