Narrative:
Given crossing restr at intersection to cross at 12000 ft. Miscalculated crossing restr by 1500 ft. Was given a vector off of the STAR before reaching the fix. Completed 360 degree turn given by ATC to reintercept STAR and continue on arrival. There were storms northeast of phx we had been deviating around and were somewhat distraction when figuring our descent. It was my leg and I added the distance improperly to the fix. We realized it too late and advised ATC. We thought we could make it, but ATC had vectored us off the arrival before reaching the fix. There was a speed restr, but ATC negated that part of the clearance. We learned our lesson. Refigure your descent and always rechk.
