Narrative:

Was given descent to cross 40 mi west of harrisburg VOR at 25000 ft. Started a VNAV descent 20 mi prior to FMC top of descent point. At approximately 30000 ft the FMC and autoplt allowed the aircraft to enter an overspd condition at which point I changed to level change and bugged a speed below the red zipper range on the B737-800. At this point ATC cleared the aircraft direct lancaster and handed us off to ZNY. I put lancaster in the computer and copilot called center. Center asked if we had a crossing restr which, during the autoflt problem, we had missed. No conflict of traffic occurred. After landing maintenance was advised of the momentary overspd occurrence.
