Narrative:

I was cleared to taxi to runway 9R. Believing I was on tower frequency 118.8 and was told to go ahead of the jet, I believed that was clearance to take off. In reality, I was still on ground frequency 121.7 and the clearance was only to taxi around the jet. Understanding I was cleared for takeoff, I proceeded to take off. Tower contacted me on ground frequency and explained I was still on ground frequency and had not been cleared for takeoff. I was asked to phone tower upon landing. I did contact the tower by phone. Corrective action: in the future, I will always reconfirm the radio frequency and listen for standard terminology 'cleared for takeoff.'
