Narrative:
During climb and cruise, a very loud whistling noise emanated from the r-hand forward galley door. The noise was loud enough that my ears began to hurt. The captain and first officer inspected the door and informed us that it was an air leak. They then proceeded to descend to see if the noise would go away. It did not. We then landed at jfk and maintenance boarded. The door seal on the forward part of the door came loose. Maintenance stated that it probably came loose due to the catering employees not shutting the door properly.
