Narrative:
Departure dfw TEX7.fuz departure. We leveled at 10000 ft and were on a radar vector (fuz) of 280 degrees. WX was VMC with scattered showers and thunderstorms in area. We got a TCASII traffic alert, followed immediately by an RA to 'climb.' controller also called at this same time with TA, a climb to 17000 ft and a turn toward the north. I pulled up and followed the RA instructions and turned right. The TCASII indicated traffic 200 ft below and climbing. We never did see the traffic. We asked the controller about the event and he said that separation was never less than 500 ft and that he '(I) should have turned you earlier.' dfw departure control was notified of a possible near midair collision and upon arrival at den, collected all the information from me to complete an near midair collision report. Since we never saw the traffic, we do not know for sure how close the other aircraft came. All we know is that TCASII showed '-200 climbing,' indicating traffic 200 ft below and climbing towards us. Horizontal distance (clearance) is unknown.

Title: AN MD88 CREW DEPARTING DFW RESPONDED TO A CLB RA, AN NMAC WAS THE RESULT.
Narrative: DEP DFW TEX7.FUZ DEP. WE LEVELED AT 10000 FT AND WERE ON A RADAR VECTOR (FUZ) OF 280 DEGS. WX WAS VMC WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS AND TSTMS IN AREA. WE GOT A TCASII TFC ALERT, FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY AN RA TO 'CLB.' CTLR ALSO CALLED AT THIS SAME TIME WITH TA, A CLB TO 17000 FT AND A TURN TOWARD THE N. I PULLED UP AND FOLLOWED THE RA INSTRUCTIONS AND TURNED R. THE TCASII INDICATED TFC 200 FT BELOW AND CLBING. WE NEVER DID SEE THE TFC. WE ASKED THE CTLR ABOUT THE EVENT AND HE SAID THAT SEPARATION WAS NEVER LESS THAN 500 FT AND THAT HE '(I) SHOULD HAVE TURNED YOU EARLIER.' DFW DEP CTL WAS NOTIFIED OF A POSSIBLE NMAC AND UPON ARR AT DEN, COLLECTED ALL THE INFO FROM ME TO COMPLETE AN NMAC RPT. SINCE WE NEVER SAW THE TFC, WE DO NOT KNOW FOR SURE HOW CLOSE THE OTHER ACFT CAME. ALL WE KNOW IS THAT TCASII SHOWED '-200 CLBING,' INDICATING TFC 200 FT BELOW AND CLBING TOWARDS US. HORIZ DISTANCE (CLRNC) IS UNKNOWN.
