Narrative:
Unable crossing altitude. We were at FL200 and given the clearance, cross pivot at 10000 ft. We started down, but were distraction and saw that we were not going to make the crossing. About 7 mi from pivot we told the controller we were unable and he said ok. We crossed pivot at approximately 12500 ft. The distraction was the ACARS was not working properly. No excuses -- it was our fault and we need to pay better attention.
