Narrative:
Multiple aircraft reported problems and anomalies with their GPS equipment. Aircraft reported GPS unreliable and therefore unusable. Supervisor investigated and was told that NASA or the military was causing the problem and was given a time when GPS would work again. I recommend a nationwide NOTAM be issued whenever the GPS equipment could possibly be affected.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ZFW CTLR ALERTS SUPVR TO CHK ON ACFT GPS FREQ INTERFERENCE.
Narrative: MULTIPLE ACFT RPTED PROBS AND ANOMALIES WITH THEIR GPS EQUIP. ACFT RPTED GPS UNRELIABLE AND THEREFORE UNUSABLE. SUPVR INVESTIGATED AND WAS TOLD THAT NASA OR THE MIL WAS CAUSING THE PROB AND WAS GIVEN A TIME WHEN GPS WOULD WORK AGAIN. I RECOMMEND A NATIONWIDE NOTAM BE ISSUED WHENEVER THE GPS EQUIP COULD POSSIBLY BE AFFECTED.
