Narrative:
On vectors for approach to ILS runway 9R (atl), 2-3 mi south of tizzy heading 360 degrees, 4000 ft MSL. Dusk hazy conditions. 160 KTS, flaps 15 degrees, gear up. Controller issued immediate climb to 5000 ft and immediate turn to 090 degrees. We visually picked out the other aircraft at 1 O'clock position on final for the same runway and advised controller we had the traffic. At that time we also received a TCASII advisory (one time 'traffic, traffic'). We leveled at 5000 ft and were given another heading of 180 degrees. Handed off to another controller and resequenced for landing. I usually clear final while being vectored for the intercept. However, due to the long duty day (scheduled for XA58) and the complacency of the last leg of a 4-DAY trip, I failed to notice the other aircraft. The controller caught the error before we did and gave us corrective action. Always clear final -- even when under ATC control.

Title: A B757 FLT CREW DIDN'T SEE CONFLICTING TFC AND RECEIVED A TCASII TA.
Narrative: ON VECTORS FOR APCH TO ILS RWY 9R (ATL), 2-3 MI S OF TIZZY HDG 360 DEGS, 4000 FT MSL. DUSK HAZY CONDITIONS. 160 KTS, FLAPS 15 DEGS, GEAR UP. CTLR ISSUED IMMEDIATE CLB TO 5000 FT AND IMMEDIATE TURN TO 090 DEGS. WE VISUALLY PICKED OUT THE OTHER ACFT AT 1 O'CLOCK POS ON FINAL FOR THE SAME RWY AND ADVISED CTLR WE HAD THE TFC. AT THAT TIME WE ALSO RECEIVED A TCASII ADVISORY (ONE TIME 'TFC, TFC'). WE LEVELED AT 5000 FT AND WERE GIVEN ANOTHER HDG OF 180 DEGS. HANDED OFF TO ANOTHER CTLR AND RESEQUENCED FOR LNDG. I USUALLY CLR FINAL WHILE BEING VECTORED FOR THE INTERCEPT. HOWEVER, DUE TO THE LONG DUTY DAY (SCHEDULED FOR XA58) AND THE COMPLACENCY OF THE LAST LEG OF A 4-DAY TRIP, I FAILED TO NOTICE THE OTHER ACFT. THE CTLR CAUGHT THE ERROR BEFORE WE DID AND GAVE US CORRECTIVE ACTION. ALWAYS CLR FINAL -- EVEN WHEN UNDER ATC CTL.
