Narrative:
Received late descent clearance to cross quail intersection on the quail 3 arrival into denver. Was cleared to cross quail at 17000 ft when we were approximately 15 mi east of quail and descending through FL250. We requested relief from the crossing restr but our radio transmission was blocked. Was then given a frequency change before we could request relief. Checked in with denver approach control and advised them that we would be high over quail. The controller gave us a further descent to 13000 ft, but did not acknowledge our statement that we would cross quail high. Continued on to airport uneventfully.
