Narrative:
While sbound on V441 ssw of the monia intersection I was cleared direct to the ocala VOR. This shortcut took me through active restr airspace (R-2904A and R-2903A). At the time I received the clearance I did not question jax approach about the airspace status. I made the assumption that because I was IFR that positive separation would be provided by ATC. However, when I was right smack north the middle of R-2903A I heard the controller advising another aircraft that R-2903A and R-2904A were active. ATC never said anything to me and I'm not even sure if I did anything wrong. I must admit that I should have asked ATC about the airspace status ahead of entering it. I was more concerned with an autoplt malfunction that prevented me from coupling the autoplt with my navigation radios. This, combined with a crosswind from the west made my ground track drift to the east, (perhaps more than ATC anticipated).

Title: A PA30 PLT DRIFTED FROM A DIRECT ROUTING AND ENTERED A RESTR AREA NEAR JAX.
Narrative: WHILE SBOUND ON V441 SSW OF THE MONIA INTXN I WAS CLRED DIRECT TO THE OCALA VOR. THIS SHORTCUT TOOK ME THROUGH ACTIVE RESTR AIRSPACE (R-2904A AND R-2903A). AT THE TIME I RECEIVED THE CLRNC I DID NOT QUESTION JAX APCH ABOUT THE AIRSPACE STATUS. I MADE THE ASSUMPTION THAT BECAUSE I WAS IFR THAT POSITIVE SEPARATION WOULD BE PROVIDED BY ATC. HOWEVER, WHEN I WAS RIGHT SMACK N THE MIDDLE OF R-2903A I HEARD THE CTLR ADVISING ANOTHER ACFT THAT R-2903A AND R-2904A WERE ACTIVE. ATC NEVER SAID ANYTHING TO ME AND I'M NOT EVEN SURE IF I DID ANYTHING WRONG. I MUST ADMIT THAT I SHOULD HAVE ASKED ATC ABOUT THE AIRSPACE STATUS AHEAD OF ENTERING IT. I WAS MORE CONCERNED WITH AN AUTOPLT MALFUNCTION THAT PREVENTED ME FROM COUPLING THE AUTOPLT WITH MY NAV RADIOS. THIS, COMBINED WITH A XWIND FROM THE W MADE MY GND TRACK DRIFT TO THE E, (PERHAPS MORE THAN ATC ANTICIPATED).
