Narrative:

During cruise FMS 'timed out.' after recovery of FMS, operation appeared normal. ATC later advised a turn left of 10 degrees to rejoin the STAR. Should have realized something was wrong. ATC cleared us to cross xyz intersection at 11000 ft. Crosschecked position with vors and realized we were much closer to crossing restr than FMS indicated. Used all available system to make restr, but I am not sure we were within compliance of the clearance. Have since begun xchking FMS position with navaids and not be as complacent with accuracy of the 'magenta line.'
