Narrative:
Aircraft #1 was vectored for climb. When I determined separation was achieved, I returned him to his course. Subsequently, I determined lateral separation was insufficient. I turned both aircraft. Conflict alert activated after the aircraft passed.

Title: ZDC MISJUDGES LATERAL SEPARATION BTWN A C550 AND AN A319 AND SUBSEQUENT VECTOR ARE UNABLE TO MAINTAIN LEGAL SEPARATION.
Narrative: ACFT #1 WAS VECTORED FOR CLB. WHEN I DETERMINED SEPARATION WAS ACHIEVED, I RETURNED HIM TO HIS COURSE. SUBSEQUENTLY, I DETERMINED LATERAL SEPARATION WAS INSUFFICIENT. I TURNED BOTH ACFT. CONFLICT ALERT ACTIVATED AFTER THE ACFT PASSED.
