Narrative:
I was working aircraft X on V18 eastbound at 9000 ft. The scratch pad data indicated to me that the aircraft was an overflt at 9000 ft. A handoff was made to ZTL 30 mi east of atl. At XA05, 50 mi east of atl, the aircraft requested on course and a climb to a higher altitude. It was then that my handoff man told me to climb aircraft X to 11000 ft because of traffic in ZTL's airspace. It was only then that I knew aircraft X was not a V18 overflt, but a departure off ctj requesting a higher altitude. I also believe I was working too many aircraft. Flow control was non existence training was ongoing at my handoff position (assistant).

Narrative: I WAS WORKING ACFT X ON V18 EBOUND AT 9000 FT. THE SCRATCH PAD DATA INDICATED TO ME THAT THE ACFT WAS AN OVERFLT AT 9000 FT. A HDOF WAS MADE TO ZTL 30 MI E OF ATL. AT XA05, 50 MI E OF ATL, THE ACFT REQUESTED ON COURSE AND A CLB TO A HIGHER ALT. IT WAS THEN THAT MY HDOF MAN TOLD ME TO CLB ACFT X TO 11000 FT BECAUSE OF TFC IN ZTL'S AIRSPACE. IT WAS ONLY THEN THAT I KNEW ACFT X WAS NOT A V18 OVERFLT, BUT A DEP OFF CTJ REQUESTING A HIGHER ALT. I ALSO BELIEVE I WAS WORKING TOO MANY ACFT. FLOW CTL WAS NON EXISTENCE TRAINING WAS ONGOING AT MY HDOF POS (ASSISTANT).
