Narrative:

After engine start, the pilot in the left seat tried to call ground by pushing the red autoplt disconnect button. This was his initial flight in the aircraft and I mentioned the autoplt button and the transmit button on the forward left side of the yoke. He became agitated at this. We finally received clearance to taxi to runway 32R. During the taxi, the pilot was carrying 1500 RPM and riding the brakes. When I mentioned this, the pilot again became very defensive. We completed the run-up. He switched to tower and using the autoplt button again twice. When I mentioned the button again, he became agitated and confused. He called tower ready for takeoff. Tower requested we hold short, we replied holding short, waiting for a westwind jet to land. We were then cleared into position and hold with a continued instruction from the controller to an aircraft on final that we were going into position and hold, but we would be gone prior to his arrival. This is where things became confusing. I asked the pilot in our aircraft to request a slight delay on the runway to stabilize power at 22 inches manifold pressure. This turbo does not have a controller to protect overboost of 31 inches manifold pressure (takeoff power). As he was lining up on the runway, I saw the westwind at the end of the runway. I have not been able to listen to the tape, but I thought the tower said we would be cleared for takeoff when the westwind cleared the runway. At this time the pilot rapidly pushed the throttle to 40 inches manifold pressure an overboost by 9 inches manifold pressure. I grabbed the throttle and reduced power to 22 inches or 23 inches manifold pressure and applied the brakes. There was a lot of intercom conversation going on that I won't repeat. The pilot put the throttle to approximately 30 inches manifold pressure and released the brakes. I was told by the tower chief that the controller requested we abort twice. I did not hear the calls. The check out pilot is french and we had a problem with communications at this point. I believe he was gripping the top of the control wheel and pushing the transmit button. We continued takeoff and the tower advised I call on our return regarding a possible infraction. I also called my poi at FSDO, but they knew nothing about the problem. I am still waiting for a reply from ZZZ.

Title: SMA PLT BEING CHK OUT IN NEW TYPE ACFT MISTAKENLY TOOK OFF PRIOR TO CLRED, AND THEN HE, OR THE INSTRUCTOR, DID NOT HEAR THE TWR CTLR INSTRUCTIONS TO ABORT TKOF. FORTUNATELY, THE CONFLICTING TFC HAD TURNED OFF THE RWY AFTER LNDG BEFORE THE SMA HAD PAST BEHIND THEM.

Narrative: AFTER ENG START, THE PLT IN THE L SEAT TRIED TO CALL GND BY PUSHING THE RED AUTOPLT DISCONNECT BUTTON. THIS WAS HIS INITIAL FLT IN THE ACFT AND I MENTIONED THE AUTOPLT BUTTON AND THE XMIT BUTTON ON THE FORWARD L SIDE OF THE YOKE. HE BECAME AGITATED AT THIS. WE FINALLY RECEIVED CLRNC TO TAXI TO RWY 32R. DURING THE TAXI, THE PLT WAS CARRYING 1500 RPM AND RIDING THE BRAKES. WHEN I MENTIONED THIS, THE PLT AGAIN BECAME VERY DEFENSIVE. WE COMPLETED THE RUN-UP. HE SWITCHED TO TWR AND USING THE AUTOPLT BUTTON AGAIN TWICE. WHEN I MENTIONED THE BUTTON AGAIN, HE BECAME AGITATED AND CONFUSED. HE CALLED TWR READY FOR TKOF. TWR REQUESTED WE HOLD SHORT, WE REPLIED HOLDING SHORT, WAITING FOR A WESTWIND JET TO LAND. WE WERE THEN CLRED INTO POS AND HOLD WITH A CONTINUED INSTRUCTION FROM THE CTLR TO AN ACFT ON FINAL THAT WE WERE GOING INTO POS AND HOLD, BUT WE WOULD BE GONE PRIOR TO HIS ARR. THIS IS WHERE THINGS BECAME CONFUSING. I ASKED THE PLT IN OUR ACFT TO REQUEST A SLIGHT DELAY ON THE RWY TO STABILIZE PWR AT 22 INCHES MANIFOLD PRESSURE. THIS TURBO DOES NOT HAVE A CTLR TO PROTECT OVERBOOST OF 31 INCHES MANIFOLD PRESSURE (TKOF PWR). AS HE WAS LINING UP ON THE RWY, I SAW THE WESTWIND AT THE END OF THE RWY. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO LISTEN TO THE TAPE, BUT I THOUGHT THE TWR SAID WE WOULD BE CLRED FOR TKOF WHEN THE WESTWIND CLRED THE RWY. AT THIS TIME THE PLT RAPIDLY PUSHED THE THROTTLE TO 40 INCHES MANIFOLD PRESSURE AN OVERBOOST BY 9 INCHES MANIFOLD PRESSURE. I GRABBED THE THROTTLE AND REDUCED PWR TO 22 INCHES OR 23 INCHES MANIFOLD PRESSURE AND APPLIED THE BRAKES. THERE WAS A LOT OF INTERCOM CONVERSATION GOING ON THAT I WON'T REPEAT. THE PLT PUT THE THROTTLE TO APPROX 30 INCHES MANIFOLD PRESSURE AND RELEASED THE BRAKES. I WAS TOLD BY THE TWR CHIEF THAT THE CTLR REQUESTED WE ABORT TWICE. I DID NOT HEAR THE CALLS. THE CHK OUT PLT IS FRENCH AND WE HAD A PROB WITH COMS AT THIS POINT. I BELIEVE HE WAS GRIPPING THE TOP OF THE CTL WHEEL AND PUSHING THE XMIT BUTTON. WE CONTINUED TKOF AND THE TWR ADVISED I CALL ON OUR RETURN REGARDING A POSSIBLE INFRACTION. I ALSO CALLED MY POI AT FSDO, BUT THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THE PROB. I AM STILL WAITING FOR A REPLY FROM ZZZ.
