Narrative:

Please refer to commercial chart boston logan. Landed on runway 4R at boston. Took romeo taxiway off the runway to november-cleared across 4L/22R taxi down nov to cross 15R/33L then left on kilo and hold short of charlie. The visibility was poor. About 1200 RVR. Some places better but I could not see the tower at any time. Anyway I followed the directions carefully especially with the low visibility and infrequent visits to bos. At what we thought was charlie on the chart we stopped as directed. Waited a few mins then asked if we could continue. Ground acknowledged with taxi to the gate. At what I thought was charlie on the chart, we came upon a air carrier jet that had pushed back. It turns out that what I was looking at on the commercial chart, was not taxiway charlie but the letter C after the word terminal C. The C is actually printed on top of a taxiway intersection. No problems resulted. The air carrier jet taxied south on and then doubled back and we went to the gate. I could not see more than a couple hundred ft and could definitely not see the actual taxiway charlie that is much further down. My eyes locked in on the first C I came to and stopped and since the tower could not see us they did not realize I had stopped short of the correct taxiway. Recommendation. Please have commercial chart reprint the page and place the letter C in another spot when they are addressing terminals. As they did with terminal B.

Title: MISINTERPRETING THE TERMINAL 'C' INDICATION ON THE COMMERCIAL ARPT CHART FOR THE 'C' TXWY INDICATION RESULTS IN HOLDING AT THE INCORRECT POSITION DURING LOW VIS CONDITIONS AT BOSTON.

Narrative: PLEASE REFER TO COMMERCIAL CHART BOSTON LOGAN. LANDED ON RWY 4R AT BOSTON. TOOK ROMEO TXWY OFF THE RWY TO NOVEMBER-CLRED ACROSS 4L/22R TAXI DOWN NOV TO CROSS 15R/33L THEN LEFT ON KILO AND HOLD SHORT OF CHARLIE. THE VIS WAS POOR. ABOUT 1200 RVR. SOME PLACES BETTER BUT I COULD NOT SEE THE TWR AT ANY TIME. ANYWAY I FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY ESPECIALLY WITH THE LOW VIS AND INFREQUENT VISITS TO BOS. AT WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS CHARLIE ON THE CHART WE STOPPED AS DIRECTED. WAITED A FEW MINS THEN ASKED IF WE COULD CONTINUE. GND ACKNOWLEDGED WITH TAXI TO THE GATE. AT WHAT I THOUGHT WAS CHARLIE ON THE CHART, WE CAME UPON A ACR JET THAT HAD PUSHED BACK. IT TURNS OUT THAT WHAT I WAS LOOKING AT ON THE COMMERCIAL CHART, WAS NOT TXWY CHARLIE BUT THE LETTER C AFTER THE WORD TERMINAL C. THE C IS ACTUALLY PRINTED ON TOP OF A TXWY INTXN. NO PROBS RESULTED. THE ACR JET TAXIED S ON AND THEN DOUBLED BACK AND WE WENT TO THE GATE. I COULD NOT SEE MORE THAN A COUPLE HUNDRED FT AND COULD DEFINITELY NOT SEE THE ACTUAL TXWY CHARLIE THAT IS MUCH FURTHER DOWN. MY EYES LOCKED IN ON THE FIRST C I CAME TO AND STOPPED AND SINCE THE TWR COULD NOT SEE US THEY DID NOT REALIZE I HAD STOPPED SHORT OF THE CORRECT TXWY. RECOMMENDATION. PLEASE HAVE COMMERCIAL CHART REPRINT THE PAGE AND PLACE THE LETTER C IN ANOTHER SPOT WHEN THEY ARE ADDRESSING TERMINALS. AS THEY DID WITH TERMINAL B.
