Narrative:
While maintaining VFR and 3500 ft, dulles approach control advised us of traffic at our 12 O'clock position. We idented the traffic. A short time later the traffic appeared to be at our altitude. We took evasive action by turning away from our heading and descending. What can be done for future situation? Give the VFR aircraft a 30 degree turn away from the traffic.
