Narrative:
Immediately after landing on runway 22, I was told to expedite a left turn onto taxiway east. As I started the left turn I realized an air carrier Y MD80 was head-on with me on taxiway east and turning right on taxiway B. I couldn't clear the runway. I looked over my left shoulder and air carrier Z was taking off on runway 22 but my tail was still on the runway. I told tower I wasn't clear of the runway and tower immediately told air carrier Z to abort and air carrier west, on final, to go around. I cleared the runway and heard ground tell the air carrier Y MD80 he was supposed to taxi on taxiway a, not taxiway east and taxiway B, which conflicted with our aircraft.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AFTER LNDG AT LGA ON RWY 22, AND TURNING OFF AS DIRECTED, A DHC8 CREW WAS UNABLE TO COMPLETELY CLR THE RWY BECAUSE OF OTHER TFC.
Narrative: IMMEDIATELY AFTER LNDG ON RWY 22, I WAS TOLD TO EXPEDITE A L TURN ONTO TXWY E. AS I STARTED THE L TURN I REALIZED AN ACR Y MD80 WAS HEAD-ON WITH ME ON TXWY E AND TURNING R ON TXWY B. I COULDN'T CLR THE RWY. I LOOKED OVER MY L SHOULDER AND ACR Z WAS TAKING OFF ON RWY 22 BUT MY TAIL WAS STILL ON THE RWY. I TOLD TWR I WASN'T CLR OF THE RWY AND TWR IMMEDIATELY TOLD ACR Z TO ABORT AND ACR W, ON FINAL, TO GO AROUND. I CLRED THE RWY AND HEARD GND TELL THE ACR Y MD80 HE WAS SUPPOSED TO TAXI ON TXWY A, NOT TXWY E AND TXWY B, WHICH CONFLICTED WITH OUR ACFT.
