Narrative:

Emergency landing. We got the flap asymmetry multi-function display message, while in cruise about over mci. We did all checklist items, and I elected to continue to msp to burn down fuel for landing. I declared an emergency with ZMP. The approach and landing were uneventful. With the history of flap asymmetry problems with this aircraft, it probably should have had a check flight before returning to revenue service.

Narrative: EMER LNDG. WE GOT THE FLAP ASYMMETRY MULTI-FUNCTION DISPLAY MESSAGE, WHILE IN CRUISE ABOUT OVER MCI. WE DID ALL CHKLIST ITEMS, AND I ELECTED TO CONTINUE TO MSP TO BURN DOWN FUEL FOR LNDG. I DECLARED AN EMER WITH ZMP. THE APCH AND LNDG WERE UNEVENTFUL. WITH THE HISTORY OF FLAP ASYMMETRY PROBS WITH THIS ACFT, IT PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE HAD A CHK FLT BEFORE RETURNING TO REVENUE SVC.
