Narrative:
Controller called for climb from 7000 ft to 8000 ft for traffic avoidance. Then controller called for descent back to 7000 ft. On autoplt gradual descent I overshot and at 6500 ft controller advised of altitude. I resumed 7000 ft uneventfully.

Narrative: CTLR CALLED FOR CLB FROM 7000 FT TO 8000 FT FOR TFC AVOIDANCE. THEN CTLR CALLED FOR DSCNT BACK TO 7000 FT. ON AUTOPLT GRADUAL DSCNT I OVERSHOT AND AT 6500 FT CTLR ADVISED OF ALT. I RESUMED 7000 FT UNEVENTFULLY.
