Narrative:
The king air was eastbound at FL230. I descended the other plane to FL170. Realizing it wasn't going to work, I told him to maintain FL240. I couldn't see his data block because of overlap with several others. I then told the king air to fly a 360 degree heading and the other plane a 050 degree heading. After they were clear, I put the king air on course and descended the other aircraft.

Title: ZAU CTLR DSNDS DC9 INTO CONFLICT WITH BE10. ACTIONS INSUFFICIENT TO ENSURE LEGAL SEPARATION.
Narrative: THE KING AIR WAS EBOUND AT FL230. I DSNDED THE OTHER PLANE TO FL170. REALIZING IT WASN'T GOING TO WORK, I TOLD HIM TO MAINTAIN FL240. I COULDN'T SEE HIS DATA BLOCK BECAUSE OF OVERLAP WITH SEVERAL OTHERS. I THEN TOLD THE KING AIR TO FLY A 360 DEG HDG AND THE OTHER PLANE A 050 DEG HDG. AFTER THEY WERE CLR, I PUT THE KING AIR ON COURSE AND DSNDED THE OTHER ACFT.
