Narrative:
On glide slope for runway 25L at lax, received an RA that commanded zero rate of descent on climb. Visual acquired traffic and complied with RA commands. Climbed approximately 400 ft until clear of traffic, then returned to glide slope. Conflicting aircraft had over shot assigned final crossing runway 25 RA and penal rating our approach corridor for runway 25L. Captain maintained visual can't aircraft darning my evasive maneuver. Tower was notified of event. Supplemental information from acn 524714: simultaneously got a TCAS resolution advisory and a call from tower advising that a brasilia had overshot the turn to final and for runway 25R. When I first saw him, he was at 1 O'clock heading across our path, slightly below us. Conditions were 'marginal' VMC due to haze, flying into a setting sun.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN A320 FLT ON APCH TO RWY 25L HAS TO CLIMB TO AVOID A BRASILIA FLT THAT OVERSHOT THE LOCALIZER TO RWY 25R AT LAX, CA.
Narrative: ON GLIDE SLOPE FOR RWY 25L AT LAX, RECEIVED AN RA THAT COMMANDED ZERO RATE OF DESCENT ON CLIMB. VISUAL ACQUIRED TFC AND COMPLIED WITH RA COMMANDS. CLIMBED APPROX 400 FT UNTIL CLEAR OF TFC, THEN RETURNED TO GLIDE SLOPE. CONFLICTING ACFT HAD OVER SHOT ASSIGNED FINAL CROSSING RWY 25 RA AND PENAL RATING OUR APCH CORRIDOR FOR RWY 25L. CAPT MAINTAINED VISUAL CAN'T ACFT DARNING MY EVASIVE MANEUVER. TOWER WAS NOTIFIED OF EVENT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 524714: SIMULTANEOUSLY GOT A TCAS RESOLUTION ADVISORY AND A CALL FROM TWR ADVISING THAT A BRASILIA HAD OVERSHOT THE TURN TO FINAL AND FOR RWY 25R. WHEN I FIRST SAW HIM, HE WAS AT 1 O'CLOCK HEADING ACROSS OUR PATH, SLIGHTLY BELOW US. CONDITIONS WERE 'MARGINAL' VMC DUE TO HAZE, FLYING INTO A SETTING SUN.
