Narrative:
I am reporting an incident that occurred on 09/sun/01. My plane was based at ims madison, in. On above date and time I decided to fly around the general area sightseeing. I departed ims the usual way after advising intercom on 122.8 which runway I was using. Then checking for traffic then departing. I flew around the general area at altitudes between 2500 and 4600 ft. When I returned I advised all legs of the pattern that I was in, then landed without incident. While I was filling in the 1.6 hours that I had just flown in the log book I was confronted by a lady that works at the desk. She advised she had just received a call from FAA checking on my plane and wanted her to advise me that no VFR flts were allowed. I was not aware of this restriction and was not advised by anyone via radio. I had my altitude reporting transponder on and was monitoring 121.5 low volume and using 122.8. The lady advised she was not aware of any restrictions until she was contacted by FAA about my plane.
