Narrative:
On sat 9/sat/01 conducted a local (within 10 mile) VFR flight in vicinity of wakefield, va. (Akq), airport. Flight was conducted around XA00. After events of 9/tue/01 reports were that all commercial flight were grounded and rptrs closed. On 9/fri/01 commercial flts resumed and it was reported all airports were open except washington national ronald reagan airport. It was assumed that VFR flts could resume. A test flight plan was filed with duats and no NOTAMS on flight restr came. Flight was conducted away from all commercial airports. Transponder was on to 1200. Radios were on to unicom frequency 122.8 and guard frequency. After 45 mins of flight heard a broadcast on guard for plane to return, land and squawk identify, did not know if broadcast was for me, but I idented and landed. Did not believe flight in area of an uncontrolled field was restricted. News reports focused on commercial aviation. It could have included a news release from FAA to GA pilots so we could have known the full scoop.
