Narrative:

Controller cleared the flight direct to tiffy to maintain 7000 ft. We were at 8000 ft at that time. Clearance was then received for a visual approach to runway 25L to cross tiffy at 8000 ft then descend to 7000 ft. The incorrect hearback to cross tiffy at 8000 ft was a result, I believe, of the late clearance for the approach to runway 25L and setting up for that, when runway 25R was anticipated. No traffic conflict was involved. Operations were normal.
