Narrative:

Our takeoff departure was to climb to 3000 ft. On the readback prior to departure, clearance delivery acknowledged readback correct. On initial climb, we contacted departure that we were out of 17000 ft for 3000 ft. Departure advised us to maintain 2000 ft. By this time we were out of 2000 ft and stopped our climb at 2300 ft and returned to 2000 ft. The cause was initial clearance that stated 3000 ft, not 2000 ft.
