Narrative:

On 9/thu/01, I planned a VFR local flight to fulfill a promise to my grandson for an after school flight. Flight was from creve coeur, mo (1h0), airport. I wrongly assumed the flight ban for GA aircraft had been lifted except for the nyc and dc areas. About 30 mins into the flight, I tuned to the saint louis spirit (sus) ATIS and experienced an immediate increase in heart rate when I learned the lambert class B had been extended to include the lateral limits. Simply stated, this incident occurred because I neglected to contact the local FSS for existing conditions.
