Narrative:
Havana control handed us off to miami center. I misheard the frequency. I could hear other aircraft talking to mia, but not mia, so I assumed I was slightly out of range (this has happened to me on the route before). After 35NM, I went back to havana and obtained the correct frequency. Miami was mad and acted most unprofessionally. Even subsequent controls were abusive. Contributing to this event: fatigue (I had been up for 26 hours), mia center frequencys are not on latin america 'high' chart, I was eating during this, first officer was brand new, havana radio is not the best, miami controls were extremly rude, this made me mad, making it even harder to work effectively.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: MD11 FLC FORGOT HAND OFF FREQ TO CONTACT THE NEXT ARTCC AND REOBTAINED FROM PREVIOUS ARTCC. HOWEVER, WHEN CHEICKING IN WITH THE NEW ARTCC CTR, THE CTLR ACTED MAD AND UNPROFESSIONAL.
Narrative: HAVANA CTL HANDED US OFF TO MIAMI CTR. I MISHEARD THE FREQ. I COULD HEAR OTHER ACFT TALKING TO MIA, BUT NOT MIA, SO I ASSUMED I WAS SLIGHTLY OUT OF RANGE (THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME ON THE RTE BEFORE). AFTER 35NM, I WENT BACK TO HAVANA AND OBTAINED THE CORRECT FREQ. MIAMI WAS MAD AND ACTED MOST UNPROFESSIONALLY. EVEN SUBSEQUENT CTLS WERE ABUSIVE. CONTRIBUTING TO THIS EVENT: FATIGUE (I HAD BEEN UP FOR 26 HRS), MIA CTR FREQS ARE NOT ON LATIN AMERICA 'HIGH' CHART, I WAS EATING DURING THIS, FO WAS BRAND NEW, HAVANA RADIO IS NOT THE BEST, MIAMI CTLS WERE EXTREMLY RUDE, THIS MADE ME MAD, MAKING IT EVEN HARDER TO WORK EFFECTIVELY.
