Narrative:
During takeoff, loud sound of wind coming from crew escape hatch in cockpit. Returned to departure airport (kmht) and landed 1800 pounds over maximum landing weight. Decision to land overweight was made due to difficulty hearing radio xmissions and difficulty hearing other pilot. There is not much guidance or training on how severe a situation that is or whether it would be better to burn fuel off first.
