Narrative:
First leg with a new first officer. First leg of pairing. Routing looked good on ate page. During climb, ZDC cleared us direct to swann. Used FMS to navigation. After swann, aircraft made an early turn to ood instead of continuing to bross then ood. Center caught our deviation and gave us a heading to correct then cleared us direct to ood shortly after. Suspect first officer misprogrammed departure route, removed or typed over bross intersection and I failed to catch the error during the preflight of the FMS.

Title: A TRACK DEV IS SUSPECTED TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY INCORRECT PROGRAMMING OF THE FMS, BY A NEW FO, THAT THE CAPT DID NOT CATCH DURING HIS FMS PREFLT.
Narrative: FIRST LEG WITH A NEW FO. FIRST LEG OF PAIRING. ROUTING LOOKED GOOD ON ATE PAGE. DURING CLB, ZDC CLRED US DIRECT TO SWANN. USED FMS TO NAV. AFTER SWANN, ACFT MADE AN EARLY TURN TO OOD INSTEAD OF CONTINUING TO BROSS THEN OOD. CTR CAUGHT OUR DEV AND GAVE US A HDG TO CORRECT THEN CLRED US DIRECT TO OOD SHORTLY AFTER. SUSPECT FO MISPROGRAMMED DEP RTE, REMOVED OR TYPED OVER BROSS INTXN AND I FAILED TO CATCH THE ERROR DURING THE PREFLT OF THE FMS.
