Planned runway 36R. ATC changed runway to runway 27 then cleared flight to 'covim.' first officer mistyped in 'covin.' aircraft started wrong direction. Realized error at same time ATC inquired of heading. New vector given to 'covim.' factors: 1) turbulence WX. 2) thunderstorms to go through. 3) first officer heard 'covin' instead of 'covim.' suggest rename of 'covim' on runway 27 at mem.
