Narrative:
On departure from ord there was extensive WX thunderstorms. We initially deviated due east for buildups. ATC asked us to turn north when able. We were circumnavigating between two cells in a turn from 090 degree heading to approximately 045 degree heading. We slowed airspeed to 250 KTS in climb, best vb for turbulence. The aircraft was climbing rapidly due to light aircraft weight. We climbed thru our cleared altitude, due to rapid climb 6000 ft per min. Assigned altitude was 13000 ft. I realized climbing thru 13400 ft and corrected immediately, but reached 13700 before descending back to 13000. In the future I will still try to accommodate ATC best as I can, but will better verbalize our flight conditions and pay closer attention to ATC clearance.

Title: DURING TURB AND WX AVOIDANCE IN A VERY LIGHT ACFT WHOSE CLB PERFORMANCE WAS BETTER THAN USUAL AN ACR CREW OVERSHOOT THE ASSIGNED ALT.
Narrative: ON DEP FROM ORD THERE WAS EXTENSIVE WX THUNDERSTORMS. WE INITIALLY DEVIATED DUE E FOR BUILDUPS. ATC ASKED US TO TURN N WHEN ABLE. WE WERE CIRCUMNAVIGATING BETWEEN TWO CELLS IN A TURN FROM 090 DEG HDG TO APPROX 045 DEG HDG. WE SLOWED AIRSPEED TO 250 KTS IN CLB, BEST VB FOR TURB. THE ACFT WAS CLBING RAPIDLY DUE TO LIGHT ACFT WEIGHT. WE CLBED THRU OUR CLRED ALT, DUE TO RAPID CLB 6000 FT PER MIN. ASSIGNED ALT WAS 13000 FT. I REALIZED CLBING THRU 13400 FT AND CORRECTED IMMEDIATELY, BUT REACHED 13700 BEFORE DSNDING BACK TO 13000. IN THE FUTURE I WILL STILL TRY TO ACCOMMODATE ATC BEST AS I CAN, BUT WILL BETTER VERBALIZE OUR FLT CONDITIONS AND PAY CLOSER ATTENTION TO ATC CLRNC.
