Narrative:
Attempted to start #3 during pushback. 10A ignition start circuit breaker tripped. Completed qrc andref items. Tried second start per reference checklist, and circuit breaker tripped again. Spoke with maintenance and was told to tow back to gate for contract mechanic. Contract mechanic showed up around XA00. We tried a start on #3 at the gate, and the circuit breaker did not trip -- good start. We shut down and refueled. We then started #3 at the gate with mechanic on board and got another good start. We contacted maintenance, filled out the paperwork, and the mechanic departed the aircraft. We then pushed back and started the remaining engines, taxied to runway 15 and departed after running all required checklists. After departure, we realized that we did not obtain new takeoff weights (lost 2 passenger). Took off with numbers from card, and we weighed 160300 pounds. Primary cause of the error: 1) we had previously obtained weights (mind set), but the flight engineer did not write them down due to pull back to blocks, 2) new weights were not transmitted by operations, and 3) we failed to query operations when the new weights did not appear.

Title: A B727-200 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITHOUT AMENDED RELEASE INDICATING CORRECT ACFT WT.
Narrative: ATTEMPTED TO START #3 DURING PUSHBACK. 10A IGNITION START CIRCUIT BREAKER TRIPPED. COMPLETED QRC ANDREF ITEMS. TRIED SECOND START PER REF CHKLIST, AND CIRCUIT BREAKER TRIPPED AGAIN. SPOKE WITH MAINT AND WAS TOLD TO TOW BACK TO GATE FOR CONTRACT MECH. CONTRACT MECH SHOWED UP AROUND XA00. WE TRIED A START ON #3 AT THE GATE, AND THE CIRCUIT BREAKER DID NOT TRIP -- GOOD START. WE SHUT DOWN AND REFUELED. WE THEN STARTED #3 AT THE GATE WITH MECH ON BOARD AND GOT ANOTHER GOOD START. WE CONTACTED MAINT, FILLED OUT THE PAPERWORK, AND THE MECH DEPARTED THE ACFT. WE THEN PUSHED BACK AND STARTED THE REMAINING ENGS, TAXIED TO RWY 15 AND DEPARTED AFTER RUNNING ALL REQUIRED CHKLISTS. AFTER DEP, WE REALIZED THAT WE DID NOT OBTAIN NEW TKOF WTS (LOST 2 PAX). TOOK OFF WITH NUMBERS FROM CARD, AND WE WEIGHED 160300 LBS. PRIMARY CAUSE OF THE ERROR: 1) WE HAD PREVIOUSLY OBTAINED WTS (MIND SET), BUT THE FE DID NOT WRITE THEM DOWN DUE TO PULL BACK TO BLOCKS, 2) NEW WTS WERE NOT XMITTED BY OPS, AND 3) WE FAILED TO QUERY OPS WHEN THE NEW WTS DID NOT APPEAR.
