Sep/X/01 changed how airports handle people. I work out of lit on a daily basis and have to go through screening everyday I work. I work for an airline and have gone through the 10 year background check. All airline pilots that fly out of lit are required to go through metal detectors and security check points. Personnel that work at the gate and ramp level do not have to go through security checks. Pilots that fly freight to and from lit do not go through security check points, they go to their freight ramp and board their aircraft. Fuelers from the general aviation side of the airport move freely on the ramp to service the aircraft. Have they gone through security check points? Have they had a 10 year background check? Why am I treated different than a ramp, gate, or fuel person? I feel that airport security is a joke because of these people that have access to acfts without security checks. Everyone that works on the airport property should be required to go through security check points and that the flying public should view the employees going through security checks like they have to.
