Narrative:
Rain showers were moving through the airport area causing delays and rertes. Aircraft were departing 15 mi in trail using only runway 22L. We were cleared into position and hold and asked what heading we wanted to avoid WX on departure. Lightning was observed in the area, winds out of the south at 10 KTS. As we started takeoff roll, it began to rain. The rain intensity increased accompanied by hail and the visibility dropped to about 300 ft. We aborted the takeoff because of the visibility. Speed at abort was 100 KTS. We exited the runway and returned to the gate for fuel and a brake check. During taxi back, the flight attendants described hearing a compressor stall during the abort maneuver. I wrote up the compressor stall and requested a brake check in the aircraft logbook. Side note: we were at maximum gross takeoff weight, packs off, and planned to arrive at phx with 5000 pounds of fuel due to a rerte.

Title: AN S80 PIC ELECTS TO ABORT THE TKOF AT 100 KTS WHEN THE FORWARD VISIBILITY DROPS TO 300 FT ON TKOF IN PROX OF TSTM ACTIVITY AT ORD, IL.
Narrative: RAIN SHOWERS WERE MOVING THROUGH THE ARPT AREA CAUSING DELAYS AND RERTES. ACFT WERE DEPARTING 15 MI IN TRAIL USING ONLY RWY 22L. WE WERE CLRED INTO POS AND HOLD AND ASKED WHAT HDG WE WANTED TO AVOID WX ON DEP. LIGHTNING WAS OBSERVED IN THE AREA, WINDS OUT OF THE S AT 10 KTS. AS WE STARTED TKOF ROLL, IT BEGAN TO RAIN. THE RAIN INTENSITY INCREASED ACCOMPANIED BY HAIL AND THE VISIBILITY DROPPED TO ABOUT 300 FT. WE ABORTED THE TKOF BECAUSE OF THE VISIBILITY. SPD AT ABORT WAS 100 KTS. WE EXITED THE RWY AND RETURNED TO THE GATE FOR FUEL AND A BRAKE CHK. DURING TAXI BACK, THE FLT ATTENDANTS DESCRIBED HEARING A COMPRESSOR STALL DURING THE ABORT MANEUVER. I WROTE UP THE COMPRESSOR STALL AND REQUESTED A BRAKE CHK IN THE ACFT LOGBOOK. SIDE NOTE: WE WERE AT MAX GROSS TKOF WT, PACKS OFF, AND PLANNED TO ARRIVE AT PHX WITH 5000 LBS OF FUEL DUE TO A RERTE.
