Narrative:

Copilot cleared visual approach to runway 29, right base from east, got low 1000 ft MSL 5-6 NM from airport. Tower called for altitude, corrected, and landed uneventfully. Had airport in sight, but runway 29 lights were directional and difficult to see. Should get rid of directional runway lights.
