Narrative:
Our aircraft was taxiing at mke from gate to runway 25L via txwys B and M. Taxi route and crossing runways were briefed prior to taxi. Conditions were night VFR. While approaching the east end of taxiway M, we were handed over from ground control to tower, who cleared us into position and hold on runway 25L. Several seconds later, a hold short clearance was given. The tower controller commented that he had just noted an edc delay on our flight plan. The hold short clearance was received just after one aircraft had crossed the hold line. We reported to the tower that we had crossed the hold line. Tower then instructed an air carrier Y on a 1 mi final to go around. ATC clearance change from position and hold to hold short was received after a smooth stop short of the hold line could not be made. The only remedy at this point was to report our position as past the hold line.

Title: DC9 CAPT STOPPED AT ONCE WHEN ATCT CTLR AMENDED HIS CLRNC FROM TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD AND HOLD SHORT. HOWEVER, SINCE HE RPTED TO CTLR THAT HE WAS OVER THE RWY HOLD SHORT LINE, ANOTHER ACFT WAS SENT AROUND.
Narrative: OUR ACFT WAS TAXIING AT MKE FROM GATE TO RWY 25L VIA TXWYS B AND M. TAXI RTE AND XING RWYS WERE BRIEFED PRIOR TO TAXI. CONDITIONS WERE NIGHT VFR. WHILE APCHING THE E END OF TXWY M, WE WERE HANDED OVER FROM GND CTL TO TWR, WHO CLRED US INTO POS AND HOLD ON RWY 25L. SEVERAL SECONDS LATER, A HOLD SHORT CLRNC WAS GIVEN. THE TWR CTLR COMMENTED THAT HE HAD JUST NOTED AN EDC DELAY ON OUR FLT PLAN. THE HOLD SHORT CLRNC WAS RECEIVED JUST AFTER ONE ACFT HAD CROSSED THE HOLD LINE. WE RPTED TO THE TWR THAT WE HAD CROSSED THE HOLD LINE. TWR THEN INSTRUCTED AN ACR Y ON A 1 MI FINAL TO GO AROUND. ATC CLRNC CHANGE FROM POS AND HOLD TO HOLD SHORT WAS RECEIVED AFTER A SMOOTH STOP SHORT OF THE HOLD LINE COULD NOT BE MADE. THE ONLY REMEDY AT THIS POINT WAS TO RPT OUR POS AS PAST THE HOLD LINE.
