Narrative:

We exited runway 27L on taxiway F, turned left onto taxiway M, and held short of M2 as instructed by ord ground control. Within five seconds of setting the parking brake we experienced a 'smoke toilet' caution message on edi. I immediately called the flight attendant to assess the condition of the cabin and lavatory. She informed me that the lavatory door was cold, but smoke was accumulating in the cabin. I instructed her to prepare for an evacuation using the main cabin door. At the appropriate point in the checklist, I commanded an evacuation over the public address system, completed the checklist (evacuation) and searched and left the aircraft. The evacuation went smoothly and resulted in no injuries to passenger or crew, and no aircraft damage. I have since learned that the probable cause of the smoke in the cabin was an overheat of one of the air cycle machines, a filter on which probably contained a great deal of oil and dirt.

Title: A CANADAIR CL65 ON TXWY DECLARED AN EMERGENCY DUE TO SMOKE IN THE PAX CABIN. CAUSED BY AN OVERHEATED AIR CYCLE MACHINE.

Narrative: WE EXITED RWY 27L ON TXWY F, TURNED L ONTO TXWY M, AND HELD SHORT OF M2 AS INSTRUCTED BY ORD GND CTL. WITHIN FIVE SECONDS OF SETTING THE PARKING BRAKE WE EXPERIENCED A 'SMOKE TOILET' CAUTION MESSAGE ON EDI. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE FLT ATTENDANT TO ASSESS THE CONDITION OF THE CABIN AND LAVATORY. SHE INFORMED ME THAT THE LAVATORY DOOR WAS COLD, BUT SMOKE WAS ACCUMULATING IN THE CABIN. I INSTRUCTED HER TO PREPARE FOR AN EVACUATION USING THE MAIN CABIN DOOR. AT THE APPROPRIATE POINT IN THE CHKLIST, I COMMANDED AN EVACUATION OVER THE PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM, COMPLETED THE CHKLIST (EVACUATION) AND SEARCHED AND LEFT THE ACFT. THE EVACUATION WENT SMOOTHLY AND RESULTED IN NO INJURIES TO PAX OR CREW, AND NO ACFT DAMAGE. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT THE PROBABLE CAUSE OF THE SMOKE IN THE CABIN WAS AN OVERHEAT OF ONE OF THE AIR CYCLE MACHINES, A FILTER ON WHICH PROBABLY CONTAINED A GREAT DEAL OF OIL AND DIRT.
