Narrative:

On approach at ZZZ after gear was lowered, we received an unsafe gear indication on left main gear. Recycled gear which did not help, then accomplished the alternate gear procedure, which did not work. We then tried loading up the aircraft, and still had an unsafe gear indication. We consulted ZZZ2 tech during this time. Burned fuel down to about 2500 pounds while working the problem. We accomplished the gear up/unsafe landing procedure. Flew the visual to ZZZ runway 17R. Landed with no problems. Maintenance inspected the gear and found a gear door rod jammed between the gear and the gear well edge. Gear was pinned and taxied to the gate with no problems.
