Narrative:

Aircraft arrived in ZZZ at XA20 pm. Aircraft had a log entry for a lightning strike. Unfortunately, it was an open write-up, written in ZZZ1 airport. I complied with the inspection, and burnished out the damage per srm 530001-2-13. Burn areas were light, and below 1/8 inch. I signed off the aircraft and referenced a layover card as to the damaged areas per station number and requiring paint. After the aircraft left I received information as to an RA, revised authority/authorized to the structural repair manual, about lightning strikes on the -700. Further investigation showed that rivets that are burned must be drilled and replaced. This is not covered in srm 530001-2-13.

Narrative: ACFT ARRIVED IN ZZZ AT XA20 PM. ACFT HAD A LOG ENTRY FOR A LIGHTNING STRIKE. UNFORTUNATELY, IT WAS AN OPEN WRITE-UP, WRITTEN IN ZZZ1 ARPT. I COMPLIED WITH THE INSPECTION, AND BURNISHED OUT THE DAMAGE PER SRM 530001-2-13. BURN AREAS WERE LIGHT, AND BELOW 1/8 INCH. I SIGNED OFF THE ACFT AND REFED A LAYOVER CARD AS TO THE DAMAGED AREAS PER STATION NUMBER AND REQUIRING PAINT. AFTER THE ACFT LEFT I RECEIVED INFO AS TO AN RA, REVISED AUTH TO THE STRUCTURAL REPAIR MANUAL, ABOUT LIGHTNING STRIKES ON THE -700. FURTHER INVESTIGATION SHOWED THAT RIVETS THAT ARE BURNED MUST BE DRILLED AND REPLACED. THIS IS NOT COVERED IN SRM 530001-2-13.
