Narrative:
On dec/xa/01 at XA05, shv approach control advised me to report right base of runway 14. After I reported I switched frequency to the control tower, the control tower gave me clearance to land. At XA10, upon crossing the threshold, I heard over the radio an advisory to another traffic that I was crossing the numbers and they cleared him to land. At landing roll, the tower called me and said 'expedite exiting the runway, traffic is short final.' I took nearest exit which was runway 23/05, a crossing runway. At that time, the tower told me he did not give me a clearance to make exit on runway 23/05. Cause of this incident was distraction during landing roll by radio call from the tower and lack of specific exit of runway and radio noise. I took remedial training, airport ground operations procedure, and runway exiting procedure.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: BEECH 36 PLT TURNED OFF RWY AFTER LNDG ONTO ANOTHER RWY TO WHICH HE HAD NOT BEEN CLRED.
Narrative: ON DEC/XA/01 AT XA05, SHV APCH CTL ADVISED ME TO RPT R BASE OF RWY 14. AFTER I RPTED I SWITCHED FREQ TO THE CTL TWR, THE CTL TWR GAVE ME CLRNC TO LAND. AT XA10, UPON XING THE THRESHOLD, I HEARD OVER THE RADIO AN ADVISORY TO ANOTHER TFC THAT I WAS XING THE NUMBERS AND THEY CLRED HIM TO LAND. AT LNDG ROLL, THE TWR CALLED ME AND SAID 'EXPEDITE EXITING THE RWY, TFC IS SHORT FINAL.' I TOOK NEAREST EXIT WHICH WAS RWY 23/05, A XING RWY. AT THAT TIME, THE TWR TOLD ME HE DID NOT GIVE ME A CLRNC TO MAKE EXIT ON RWY 23/05. CAUSE OF THIS INCIDENT WAS DISTR DURING LNDG ROLL BY RADIO CALL FROM THE TWR AND LACK OF SPECIFIC EXIT OF RWY AND RADIO NOISE. I TOOK REMEDIAL TRAINING, ARPT GND OPS PROC, AND RWY EXITING PROC.
