Narrative:

My copilot and myself were ready to taxi for takeoff at bur airport and our clearance from ground control was to 'taxi to runway 33.' not familiar with the location of the hold short line for runway 33, we taxied toward the approach end of runway 33 via the ramp area and an aircraft on final was given by tower a clearance to go around. Tower controller mentioned to us that we had passed the hold short line and then gave us clearance to 'back taxi onto runway 33 and cleared for takeoff.' we were both confused and not aware we had crossed the line. We questioned our mistake with the controller on duty and he said the location of the hold short line was ambiguous and everything was ok. There was no runway incursion. We proceeded to take off and continued on our journey. Upon arrival at our home base, I mentioned the incident to my chief pilot so future misunderstandings with other pilots could be avoided.

Title: B737 AT BUR OUTBOUND FOR DEP MAY HAVE CROSSED HOLD SHORT LINES.

Narrative: MY COPLT AND MYSELF WERE READY TO TAXI FOR TKOF AT BUR ARPT AND OUR CLRNC FROM GND CTL WAS TO 'TAXI TO RWY 33.' NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE LOCATION OF THE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 33, WE TAXIED TOWARD THE APCH END OF RWY 33 VIA THE RAMP AREA AND AN ACFT ON FINAL WAS GIVEN BY TWR A CLRNC TO GO AROUND. TWR CTLR MENTIONED TO US THAT WE HAD PASSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE AND THEN GAVE US CLRNC TO 'BACK TAXI ONTO RWY 33 AND CLRED FOR TKOF.' WE WERE BOTH CONFUSED AND NOT AWARE WE HAD CROSSED THE LINE. WE QUESTIONED OUR MISTAKE WITH THE CTLR ON DUTY AND HE SAID THE LOCATION OF THE HOLD SHORT LINE WAS AMBIGUOUS AND EVERYTHING WAS OK. THERE WAS NO RWY INCURSION. WE PROCEEDED TO TAKE OFF AND CONTINUED ON OUR JOURNEY. UPON ARR AT OUR HOME BASE, I MENTIONED THE INCIDENT TO MY CHIEF PLT SO FUTURE MISUNDERSTANDINGS WITH OTHER PLTS COULD BE AVOIDED.
