Narrative:
En route bos-sfo, flight attendant reported hot electrical smell in forward galley. I contacted dispatch through comrdo and requested a patch to maintenance control and to purser on air phone. Turned off components in galley at the circuit breaker in cockpit. The flight attendant also removed power from passenger entertainment system. The smell dissipated then returned. Some flight attendants complained of eye and throat irritation from smell. There was no visible smoke. I made a decision to divert to den and have smell investigated. We notified dispatch and requested clearance to den. Landed den uneventfully. The air phone patch was very difficult to communication on due to interference. The concept of the air phone patch is very good for getting everybody 'in the loop.' if something could be done about the interference and xtalk, it would be even better.
