Narrative:

We were cleared for an ILS to lvk. We broke out of a large cumulus on the localizer to lvk. We were cleared to cross the marker at 3300 ft. The strange thing is that troy is perfectly aligned with the localizer at lvk. We broke out and did assume that was the runway and then commenced to descend. About the same time the controller noticed it we noticed it. We climbed up to 3900 ft and then was reclred for the approach. While on the approach, we did have an RA and we did have to level off before reintercepting the GS. We were within 400 ft of a lancair that was doing VFR work in the area. In cases like this it would be nice to denote on chart to 'not mistake troy for livermore, ca.'

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED FOR AN ILS TO LVK. WE BROKE OUT OF A LARGE CUMULUS ON THE LOC TO LVK. WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS THE MARKER AT 3300 FT. THE STRANGE THING IS THAT TROY IS PERFECTLY ALIGNED WITH THE LOC AT LVK. WE BROKE OUT AND DID ASSUME THAT WAS THE RWY AND THEN COMMENCED TO DSND. ABOUT THE SAME TIME THE CTLR NOTICED IT WE NOTICED IT. WE CLBED UP TO 3900 FT AND THEN WAS RECLRED FOR THE APCH. WHILE ON THE APCH, WE DID HAVE AN RA AND WE DID HAVE TO LEVEL OFF BEFORE REINTERCEPTING THE GS. WE WERE WITHIN 400 FT OF A LANCAIR THAT WAS DOING VFR WORK IN THE AREA.
