Narrative:
Runway numbers on runway 13, almost completely faded away. Was directed in for direct approach runway 17. Moderate turbulence on approach caused gyroscope indicator to precess and made magnetic compass unusable. 1 mi from runway, was contacted by tower. Was on approach to runway 13, cleared runway 17. Was told runway 13 was clear and could land, execute go around or bank left and land on runway 17. Was unable to line up for runway 17, executed go around, landed on runway 17.

Title: PIPER PA28 STUDENT PLT TRAINEE, INADVERTENTLY MADE APCH TO THE WRONG RWY AND WAS CORRECTED BY TWR CTLR WITH OPTIONS TO LAND ON THAT RWY, GAR, OR TURN, TO THE ORIGINALLY CLRED RWY.
Narrative: RWY NUMBERS ON RWY 13, ALMOST COMPLETELY FADED AWAY. WAS DIRECTED IN FOR DIRECT APCH RWY 17. MODERATE TURB ON APCH CAUSED GYROSCOPE INDICATOR TO PRECESS AND MADE MAGNETIC COMPASS UNUSABLE. 1 MI FROM RWY, WAS CONTACTED BY TWR. WAS ON APCH TO RWY 13, CLRED RWY 17. WAS TOLD RWY 13 WAS CLR AND COULD LAND, EXECUTE GAR OR BANK L AND LAND ON RWY 17. WAS UNABLE TO LINE UP FOR RWY 17, EXECUTED GAR, LANDED ON RWY 17.
